By third grade, more than half of public school students in Washington, D.C., have fallen behind in reading. When those students enter ninth grade, a full 85 percent don’t read at grade level.

 

At Reach Incorporated, we work to change that story.

 

We recruit, train, and hire teens experiencing social and academic challenges to serve as tutors for elementary school students facing challenges of their own.

The result is improved literacy for both sets of students.

Over the past ten years, we’ve worked with more than 400 students through four programs designed to develop confident readers and capable leaders.
