Reach relies on the strength of the relationships between our staff and participants, and also on our connection to the community. That includes you. Check out what we’ve been up to recently and read about upcoming events.

Reach's End of Summer Showcase is Tuesday, August 2nd!

2022 Summer Leadership Academy (SLA) is coming to a close! For the last six weeks, teens from Ballou, Coolidge, Eastern, and HD Woodson, have worked diligently to build academic skills, engage in group creative projects with community partners, learned how to leverage their voices to serve the community, and prepare for life beyond high school. SLA will conclude with the highly anticipated TeenPhilanthropy Challenge (TPC). The TPC will take place on Tuesday, August 2nd at the Shaw/Watha T Daniel Neighborhood Library from 11:00am - 12:00 noon in the conference room on the basement level.

$5,000 in grant money was donated for the TPC. After researching nonprofits and charities that do work that are supporting causes they care about, our teens have met with organization leaders, written notes, and planned "pitches" to not only promote the work of these entities, but to convince you that they are deserving of a cash reward. Join us on August 2nd to listen to the teens' pitches, as community voting members to determine which team will win the grant dollars.  We would love to have you join us for this exciting competition!

Following presentations, we will enjoy a lunch reception at New Community Church, 614 S Street, NW. In order for us to ensure we have enough food for everyone in attendance, please register using this form: Register for Reach Teen Philanthropy Challenge.  We're very hopeful that you can be with us and hope that you will register by or before Friday, 7/29 at 12:00 noon. If not, we encourage you to check our website in the coming weeks for photos and videos from the event. As always, you can make contributions to support the ongoing work of the amazing teens at Reach here.
